Biographical Note:

The 9th Regiment Cavalry was organized in Indianapolis beginning December 7th, 1863. Much of the regiment’s time during the war was spent in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. The regiment mustered out on August 28, 1865. The 69th Regiment Infantry was mustered in on August 19th, 1862. During the war, the regiment spent much of their time in Kentucky, Arkansas, and Tennessee, and was involved in Sherman’s Yazoo Expedition. They were mustered out July 5th, 1865.
