Historical Note:

The attorney general serves as the chief legal resource of the government.  He oversees legal proceedings statewide that may have an effect on the people of Indiana, and acts as representative of the Indiana State government in all legal matters.

Scope and Content Note:

This collection contains correspondence and other information and items that came from the Attorney General’s Office.  The first folder contains correspondence to and from the Attorney General.  Correspondents include, Will Hayes, Fred Knefler, William D. Owen, William A. Ketcham, William L. Taylor, James Bingham, Thomas R. Marshall, William A. Wirt, Thomas M. Honan, Edwin Corr, William L. Bryan, Ele Stansbury, W.B. Wheeler, Ed Jackson and others.  The second folder contains miscellaneous items including political bulletins, information on life insurance, constitutions and by-laws for various organization, Governor’s proclamations, executive orders sample ballots, and information about the training of librarians.

Photocopying Policy:

Manuscript materials CANNOT be photocopied or digitized in their entirety. Photocopies and/or digital images cannot exceed 25% of a collection or a folder within a collection. In some cases, photocopying may not be permitted due to the condition of the item. Check with a Manuscript Librarian for other options.
