Apply Now for 2013 Library Leadership Academy
 The Indiana State Library and its Professional Development Committee are now accepting applications for the 2013 Indiana Librarian Leadership Academy. The Professional Development Committee established the Academy to prepare emerging library leaders for 21st-Century challenges. Library leaders of all backgrounds, with all kinds of experience, and in all types of libraries are encouraged to apply for the 2nd-annual program.
Members of the Indiana State Library Professional Development Committee will review all applications as part of a competitive selection process. Only applications completed by the deadline, including all letters of reference, and meet the following criteria will be considered.

Any applicants who are currently employed must obtain permission from their employer to participate.

Participants are expected contribute in each meeting, workshop, or seminar, in addition to being a leader in their community or in the greater library community through the capstone project. Each participant is expected to continue to participate in the program as a mentor and a guest speaker in subsequent years of the program.

Cohorts are expected to pay Academy tuition of $150. The Indiana State Library will subsidize the rest of program costs (approximately $2,000 per cohort). Cohorts may seek local grant or scholarship funding to cover their portion of the costs.

Each participant may apply for up to $160 reimbursement to cover travel to face-to-face meetings. Mileage will be reimbursed at the State rate (currently $0.44/mile from city to city.)

EdCamp Indy Offers Day of Learning, Fun for School Librarians
 Registration is now open for EdCamp Indy at Franklin High School on Thursday, June 6, 2013. EdCamps are great professional development for teachers, librarians, and administrators. EdCamps are free and Professional Growth Points (PGPs) are available. Possible topics include: IPads in the Classroom; Things That Suck!; and Common Core: It's Coming (or is it?).
Grab a friend, get registered, and plan on joining the Association of Indiana School Library Educators (AISLE) and the Indiana Computer Educators (ICE) for a great day of conversation and learning! Also, visit edcamp.wikispaces.com to learn more about EdCamps , including a complete listing of nationwide events.

Notre Dame's Mak Wins National Library Award
Collette G. Mak, head of resource access and delivery at the University of Notre Dame, is the winner of the 2013 Virginia Boucher-OCLC Distinguished ILL Librarian Award for outstanding professional achievement, leadership and contributions to interlibrary loan and document delivery. Mak was selected for her exceptional and sustained contributions to resource sharing, data analysis and her dedication to education and training for interlibrary loan practitioners. Sponsored by OCLC, Mak will receive $2,000 and a citation.

Three Days Remain to Register for GID13, Earn Free LEUs

| Date Set for Institutional Libraries Spring Workshop
The 2013 Institutional Libraries Spring Workshop will be held on Monday, May 13 in Indianapolis . Insitutional library staff will have an opportunity to build their collections at the Indianapolis Public Library book sale in the morning. The afternoon will be dedicated to legal and financial literacy presentations, group discussion on collection development and time for networking.
