Upcoming Webinars Serve as Primer for Summer Reading

If you missed out on one of the many 2014 Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) trainings held statewide, consider attending a Fizz, Boom, Read Webinar on April 14 or 15. This webinar will focus on program ideas for ages 6-18 and will be worth 1 LEU. Early Literacy and Adults will not be covered in this training. Spots for this Webinar are limited so register today.

Additionally, when preparing for summer readers, the CSLP manual is a wonderful resource for you and your staff. There is great information including literally hundreds of program ideas as well as justifications for having a summer reading program, information on using parents as volunteers, and press releases already written for you. Please take a look at the disk that was sent to you through INFO Express. The manual is located on that disk.

TeachingBooks.net is also heavily involved with CSLP. For example, resources for the children's booklist include 58 Videos, 24 Book Readings, 138 Lesson Plans, and a total of 545 resources.

Last Chance to Register for Library Leadership Academy

Future library leaders have until April 4 to apply for the 2014 Indiana Librarian Leadership Academy (InLLA). This is a great opportunity to learn from field experts, network with the next generation of library leaders, and understand the major landscape changes within the library industry. Future and current library leaders of all backgrounds, with all kinds of experience, and in all types of libraries are encouraged to apply for the 3rd-annual program.

Members of the Indiana State Library Professional Development Committee will review all applications as part of a competitive selection process. Only applications completed by the April 4, 2014 deadline, including all letters of reference, and meet requirements will be considered. State Museum, Public Libraries Partner on Pass Lending Program

The Indiana State Museum Library Pass launched yesterday at select central Indiana libraries. This pilot program allows patrons checking out the pass to receive up to four complimentary general admissions to the Indiana State Museum. The pilot will run until December 31, 2014 at which time the State Museum will assess the success of the program.

If the program is successful, the State Museum could extend the opportunity to other libraries around the state. The current pilot libraries are as follows:

Limited Spaces Available for D2D V, Register Today

Registration is now open to all Indiana libraries for Discovery to Delivery V: Better Together, a one-day resource-sharing conference sponsored by the Indiana State Library and the Academic Libraries of Indiana. The free conference will be held on April 25, 2014 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the Indianapolis Public Library's Central Library. Registration is limited to the first 200 attendees.
