Website, Application Now Available for Library Academy Following up on last week's article about the Indiana Library Leadership Academy (ILLA), the State Library's Professional Development Office has made both the application and website available online. As you may recall the State Library’s Professional Development Committee established the Academy to prepare future library leaders for 21st-Century challenges. The inaugural 10-month academy will begin this July for a group of 50 cohorts with a five-day workshop at the Canyon Inn at McCormick’s Creek State Park. The cost of the Academy is just $150 ($2,100 value) for participants thanks to a significant subsidy from the Indiana State Library. Additional details are available on the ILLA webpage or by contacting Wendy Knapp at wknapp@library.in.gov.

Celebrate School Library Month in April As we wrap up National Library Week also remember that April is School Library Month - the American Association of School Librarians' (AASL) celebration of school librarians and their programs. Every April school librarians are encouraged to create activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school library programs play in a student's educational career. The 2012 theme is You belong @ your library. The AASL School Library Month Committee is busy planning activities and creating resources to help school librarians celebrate like Podcasts, Webinars, and a Video Contest. Click here for more information on the history of School Library Month including sample proclamations that can be used with local school boards, mayors, and local media. |
