State Library Announces 2014 LSTA Grant Opportunities

LSTA Supports Indiana LibrariesThe Indiana State Library Development Office opened the application process for the 2014 LSTA grant program. The 2014 applications must be received by 4:00 PM EST on Friday, March 14th, 2014 and include the following opportunities for Indiana libraries and historical and cultural organizations:

  • Technology Grants: Technology Grants help Indiana libraries provide their users with the new and improved technology necessary to meet their residents’ ever-changing needs for library services and access to information.
  • Digitization Grants: The theme for the 2014 Digitization Grant Program is The Indiana Bicentennial. While adherence to the theme is not required, projects incorporating this theme are encouraged.

EBSCO Hosting January Webinars on Health Related INSPIRE Resources

EBSCO eLearning OpportunitiesEBSCO is offering webinars this January on a number of health related INSPIRE products. If you’re not familiar with the resources below, please make some time on your calendar to get acquainted with them. EACH SESSION IS WORTH 1 TLEU. The webinar instructor will award it directly to you electronically.

Biomedical Reference Collection for Indiana Libraries

Designed for doctors, research scientists, and students, Biomedical Reference Collection provides full-text access to over 100 journals in areas pertaining to medical study. This collection may be searched independently, or via MEDLINE. Health Business FullTEXT for Indiana Libraries

Health Business FullTEXT provides full-text access to more than 130 administrative journals, covering health care regulation, facilities management, finance, staffing and more. In this 60 minute session, we will review database content, basic and advanced searching techniques, options for viewing and saving full-text articles, as well as creating search and table of contents alerts.

MEDLINE for Indiana Libraries

Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE provides authoritative information on a wide variety of medical topics. In this 60 minute session, we will review database content, basic and advanced searching techniques using the EBSCOhost interface, using MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) for more precise searching, options for viewing and saving full-text articles, creating search and table of contents alerts, and more.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition for Indiana Libraries

Health Source: Nursing/Academic provides full-text access to over 500 scholarly journals focusing on nursing and allied health. In this 60 minute session, we will review database content, basic and advanced searching techniques, options for viewing and saving full-text articles, creating search and table of contents alerts, and more.

Health Source: Consumer Edition for Indiana Libraries

Retirement Open House
at the State Library

Indiana statewide library community is invited join the Indiana Library & Historical Board, State Library staff for a retirement celebration in honor of Roberta L. Brooker.
