Libraries Asked to Aid in Distribution of New Voter Applications

New Voter Registration FormIn a recent letter to Indiana libraries, the Secretary of State's Election Division relayed that only the revised version of the VRG-7 Indiana Registration by Mail Application (State Form 50504) will be accepted by county voter registration offices. This version is designated as revision "R9/9-13" in the upper left corner. However, current federal voter registration forms may still be used in 2014, and the Spanish version of the VRG-7 (State Form 54509) will be updated to reflect the required changes made in the English version of the VRG-7 and provided to you before the end of this year.

Since Indiana Code 3-7-24-5 provides that each public library or county contractual public library is a distribution site for registration by mail forms, it is important for each library to discard its current stock of VRG-7 Indiana Registration by Mail Applications, and begin distribution of the revised version as required under Indiana Code 3-7 -31-S (b).

Visit IndianaVoters.IN.gov for online versions of the new application, more information or to contact the Indiana Election Division.

Webinars to Familiarize INSPIRE Users with TeachingBooks.net

TeachingBooks.netTeachingBooks.net, available at Inspire.IN.gov, is an easy-to-use website that adds a multimedia dimension to the reading experiences of children's and young adult books. If you work with children’s and young adult books, join one of the following webinar sessions (worth 1 TLEU) to learn ways to integrate TeachingBooks.net into your literacy and library activities:

  • Tuesday, October 29, 2:00 – 2:50 PM ET
  • Tuesday, October 29, 4:00 – 4:50 PM ET
  • Wednesday, October 30, 10:00 – 10:50 AM ET.

Each 50-minute webinar will provide an introduction and overview of TeachingBooks.net, outline ready-to-use materials for Indiana reading lists (Hoosier, Rosewater, etc), unveil promotional resources for teachers and students, and finish with a Q&A session. Registration is required. At the start time, follow the presentation link , select "Guest" and enter your first name, then hit "Submit". If you cannot attend these live trainings, three recorded videos are available.

Please remember, if you're a first-time user, logging on to Teachingbooks.net can be tricky as going directly to the homepage will not give you access to content licensed through INSPIRE. Click here or connect through the INSPIRE list of databases for authentication and complete access to all licensed resources. TeachingBooks.net offers many more helpful videos, promotional resources and tips for integrating these great resources.
