One Month Left to Plan and Promote Digital Learning Day

Digital Learning DayIf you have yet to join the hundreds of schools and libraries hosting Digital Learning Day events across the nation, there is still plenty of time and resources to start planning programs for your community. Digital Learning Day is a national campaign that celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms and libraries across the country. This next campaign will take place on February 5, 2014.

Visit www.digitallearningday.org to learn more about this unique initiative, including local programming ideas, contests, promotional materials, and grant opportunities. Digital Learning Day is just not for schools. The campaign also highlights several ways public libraries and schools can participate. The official website also is a clearinghouse for logos and outreach materials to be used to promote your local campaign.

Search for Library Standards Taskforce Members Ends Monday

Indiana Public Library StandardsThe Indiana Library & Historical Board is charging a taskforce to conduct an initial review of the first two years of the new Public Library Standards (590 IAC 6).   The Indiana State Library is seeking input from directors and trustees from libraries based upon both size and geographical distribution around the state.  Meetings will be every other month, convened for the duration of 2014 and final recommendations made to the ILHB by its December 12, 2014 meeting.

If you are interested in serving on this taskforce, please send your name and library to ldo@library.in.gov by 1/13/13.  Taskforce members will be selected and notified on 1/16/13.
