Biographical Note:
Rufus Jenison, Jr. was born in New York around 1805. He was married to Sarah Louisa Hacock in Ripley County, IN on January 29, 1829. In 1837 he received a land grant, entitling him to 8 acres in Marion County, IN, where he then worked as a farmer. According to census records, his wife died before 1850 and Jenison moved in with his father and extended family. There is no record of him in the 1860 census.

This collection contains a land grant for Rufus Jenison, Jr. for land in Warren Township, Marion County, Indiana. The land encompassed a little over eight acres. It was signed by the secretary of President Martin Van Buren.
