The Federation was founded in 1926 by Mrs. H.B. Burnet as a statewide organization to foster appreciation and promotion of art in Indiana. It coordinated and assisted in sponsoring art organizations, shows, and tours throughout the state. Annual events included three board meetings, a luncheon, summer tour, and a convention. The IFAC officially held its last meeting and dissolved on 16 November 2002. Janice Seidensticker was the final president of the IFAC.
Scope and Content Note:
The collection consists of records from 1933-2003, however the bulk of the materials cover 1980-2002. Records include Meeting minutes and Agendas (1963-2002), Treasurer's reports (1992-2002), Correspondence (1990-2002), Bulletins (1933-2002), Yearbooks (1969-2002), Scrapbooks (1937-2003), Convention papers (1986-2001), and other various materials. The Scrapbooks also include many materials found in other folders, e.g., yearbooks, bulletins, etc., so there is some duplication within the collection. Also, the order within the binders is chronological by year and includes all types of papers for that year.
