Biographical Note:

John T. Gunn was born in England on 16 April 1826 and was a successful and well-respected attorney in Sullivan, Indiana. He was active in local politics for the Republican Party. Gunn was living in Sullivan, Indiana in 1853, where he was subsequently admitted to the bar in May of 1854. He married Mary Ann Alexander on 18 March 1855 in Vigo County. He died in Jacksonville, Florida on 19 January 1884 while trying to regain his health.
