Thomas Waldo Ervin was born in 1885 in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana to William L. and Henrietta Ervin. He left Hartford City permanently in 1906. He married Ora Hurlock in Madison County, Indiana on 26 June 1912. They later settled in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Scope and Content Note:

This collection consists of photocopies of the papers of Thomas W. Ervin. Included is a "Soldier Boy in Blue" which presents a brief account of William L. Ervin's Civil War service and also includes general Civil War History and a brief genealogy of the Ervin and Slater families. Also included here is "Random Reminiscences" which provides some childhood memories of Thomas W. Ervin, as well as letter to his cousin William E. Ervin.
