Mary Adaline Brock was born on January 22, 1858 to Michael and Betsy Brock. Her siblings include Marion (1849), Albert (1852), George (1855), James C. (1860), Sarah (1863), Susan (1865) and Michael (1868). She married William M. Martin on February 22, 1886. They had five children Herman (1887), Omer C. (1889), Susan E. (1892), Lennie (1893), and Russell (1896). Adaline died on October 7, 1946.

The collection contains the typed biography of Mary Adaline Brock transcribed by her daughter Lennie M. Berkey. It discusses family life, neighbors and the people in the surrounding area. The Civil War and it’s affect on the region and their families is also mentioned. Courting and marriage in the region is discussed as well as the role of religion in everyone’s lives. There is also a hand written addition from 1943 with more stories from her life.
