Biographical Note:
Peter Anderson was born in Maryland around 1804. Sometime before 1830, he moved to Logansport, Indiana, where he as a farmer and also owned a general store. Information provided by the donor suggests that Anderson may have had several partners in this undertaking, including Mr. Eldridge, Mr. Atwell, Mr. Harris and Mr. Horney. Anderson and his wife Margaret had 7 children. Anderson appears to have died before 1870.
Scope and Content Note:
This collection contains an account book from a general store run by Peter Anderson beginning in the 1830s in Logansport, Indiana. The book dates from 1838-1849 and includes all of the individuals with whom Anderson conducted business with. The front portion of the book contains a full index of names, listed alphabetically by surname.
