Historical Note:

The American Negro Emancipation Centennial Authority was organized to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Scope and Content Note:

This collection contains the records of the American Negro Emancipation Centennial Authority (ANECA).  Included are newsletters, flyers, programs, press releases, church bulletins, and clippings relating to the Authority’s work and the Emancipation Proclamation Luncheon in Indianapolis (December 1962) and the Century of Negro Progress Exposition in Indianapolis (October 1963).  Also included are speeches by Indiana University President Elvis Stahr, Jr., and a scrapbook on the Authority’s activities kept by state chairman Willard B. Ransom.
