Biographical Note:

Little is known about Samuel R. Alexander.  He was probably born in Kentucky around 1801.  He appears to have been married and had at least three children.  His date of death is unknown.  

Scope and Content Note:

This collection contains correspondence to, from and about Samuel Alexander.  The letters chronicle the formation of the Presbyterian Church in Vincennes and throughout Indiana.  It includes information on his installation as a pastor, his congregation and his work.  Items in the collection are arranged chronologically.
