Biographical Note:

Jerome C. Burnett was born in New Jersey, May 15, 1833 and moved to Terre Haute Indiana when a child. He was a newspapers correspondent, poet, lecturer, banker, and Deputy State Auditor. He married Elizabeth Lange in 1870.

Scope and Content Note:

The collection consists of Burnett’s account, written in 1872, of a trip to Denver Colorado and the Rocky Mountains, which he titled “Six months in the saddle and camp, or roughing it in the Rockies in 1870.”
