The name and location of the saw mill are unknown.
The collection includes two items, an account book of a saw mill and lumber business for the years 1882 to 1887 and a price list for Browne’s Patent Metallic and Rubber Weather Strips (manufactured by the Patent Metallic Weather Strip Co.) for the years 1887 to 1888. The first six pages of the account book are an index to the contents of the record book, giving the personal names of customers and the page numbers where their accounts may be found. Each page may contain from one to six accounts, with entries recording amounts of wood cut in feet, sometimes types of trees and woods, oftentimes the uses to which the lumber was put, and the amount charged for the use of the mill. Occasional references are made to services rendered. The printed price list, a brochure, of the Patent Metallic Weather Strip Co, of New York, has illustrations of single edge and custom weather strips on the two inside pages and advertising copy on the back outside page.
Manuscript materials CANNOT be photocopied or digitized in their entirety. Photocopies and/or digital images cannot exceed 25% of a collection or a folder within a collection.
