The saw mill which kept these account books is not identified by name or location.
There are two account books, dating 1880 – 1888, which were kept by a saw mill in this collection. The books are similar, the most common entry (usually in pencil) being a charge for sawing or “use of mill” for assorted items and uses of lumber. Not only are the uses of the lumber regularly designated, but the entries under individual names will specify the amount of sawing in feet of lumber, the type of tree and wood cut, and the amount charged for use of the mill. Occasional entries will not relate to lumber (e.g., “bricklayer” and “bricks”), referring to services rendered or perhaps to manner of making payment.
Manuscript materials CANNOT be photocopied or digitized in their entirety. Photocopies and/or digital images cannot exceed 25% of a collection or a folder within a collection.
