Processed by: Brent Abercrombie, March 2010
Built in 1847, the Wellington A. Clark House is one of Lake County’s only surviving example of architecture of the pioneer era. A basic Greek revival, vernacular in construction, the house was framed with rough-hewn timbers and covered with cedar clapboards. The front portion of the house consists of two rooms side by side with a single entry. In 1999, Crown Point Mayor James D. Metros established The Old Homestead Preservation Society and initiated the restoration of the home. The restoration project concluded in 2007 with the dedication ceremony for the Clark House on September 22.
