Processed by: Philip N. Williams, 1999
Revised by: Jennifer Duplaga, February 2005
This collection includes a variety of advertising items, such as cards, booklets and calendar visuals, dating from 1821-1921. While a local distributor is sometimes indicated, the manufacturers of these products are frequently as geographically distant as Massachusetts. Some advertising cards are in the form in which they circulated; others had been mounted to pages which are now missing.
Also included in the collection are several tickets to area events such as a fair and exposition, Marshall Foch Day at Cadle Tabernacle, a girls’ basketball game at Butler University, Roller Derby at Butler Field House, and for a special showing of a movie at various Indianapolis theaters. Other items include an instruction card for members of the Indiana Society of Chicago who are escorting guests to a picnic and calling cards used by Mrs. T. A. Hendricks and Mrs. O. P. Morton.
Manuscript materials CANNOT be photocopied or digitized in their entirety. Photocopies and/or digital images cannot exceed 25% of a collection or a folder within a collection. In some cases, photocopying may not be permitted due to the condition of the item. Check with a Manuscript Librarian for other options.
