Biographical Note:

George and Rebecca (Thoma) Barnett resided in Winamac, Indiana (Pulaski County). The couple married ca. 1860. Rebecca’s parents and brothers, Mahlon and John, were from Belleville, IL. George’s parents, William and Maria, resided in Logansport, IN.

Scope and Content Note:

The collection consists primarily of correspondence with the Thoma-Barnett families. Correspondence generally relates to family life, economic conditions, politics, farm prices, and the Civil War. The correspondence included letters from George and Rebecca’s parents, as well as state representative J.P. Barnett of Jasper and Pulaski Counties.

Manuscript materials CANNOT be photocopied or digitized in their entirety. Photocopies and/or digital images cannot exceed 25% of a collection or a folder within a collection. In some cases, photocopying may not be permitted due to the condition of the item. Check with a Manuscript Librarian for other options.
