Mrs. Ballard was the wife of Charles W. Ballard, the Montgomery County collector. The couple lived in Roachdale, Indiana Putnam County.
The collection consists of letters, poems, receipts, invitations, and legal documents ranging from 1827 to 1930. Correspondents include family members, including her son who is part of the 158th Indiana Regiment during the Spanish-American War (1898), as well as various families from Montgomery County.
