In order to localize and speed up services, Indiana has contracted with three public libraries to serve as Subregional Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. These libraries provide recorded book services to patrons in their several county areas. They also welcome walk-in patrons and help their readers select books. The Talking Book and Braille Library provides state wide service for braille and large print readers although the Columbus Subregional (Bartholomew Co. PL) and the Northwest Indiana Subregional (Lake Co. PL) also send out large print to their patrons. The subregionals are located at the following public libraries and serve the specified counties:
1. Columbus Subregional Library
Counties Served: Bartholomew, Clark, Decatur, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Scott, and Washington
2. Evansville Subregional Library
Counties Served: Vanderburgh, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Martin, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, and Warrick
3. Northwest Indiana Subregional Library
Counties Served Lake, Jasper, LaPorte, Newton, and Porter
