Lt. Governor > Newsroom > Hoosier Cheer for our Heroes Hoosier Cheer for our Heroes

It's that time again! Lt. Governor Becky Skillmans sixth annual Hoosier Cheer for Our Heroes card and letter campaign is in full swing. Troop levels are not as high as they have been in recent years, but there are still thousands of U.S. servicemen and women who will be overseas during the holiday season. We're ready to help you send your words of encouragement and support.

This year, shipping costs will be defrayed with generous support from the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives, serving 39 electric cooperatives in 89 counties, and enGreet, an Indianapolis-based online greeting card company. enGreet will allow anyone to use their website, located at www.engreet.com, to personalize and send a card as part of Hoosier Cheer. Cards ordered online will be printed and mailed for free and can include personalized messages and photos.

To participate in Hoosier Cheer for our Heroes, simply go online at www.engreet.com and follow the Hoosier Cheer link, or mail your card or letter directly to Lt. Governor Skillman's office at:

Office of Lt. Governor Becky Skillman
c/o Hoosier Cheer for Our Heroes
200 West Washington Street, Suite 333
Indianapolis, IN 46204

Remember, it takes time to get these in the mail. To ensure our service members receive them in a timely manner, all cards and letters must be received by Friday November 18th!

Here are some guidelines to help you get started:

  • Keep your message light-hearted and encouraging.
  • Talk about the weather, your family, pets and hobbies, family traditions for the holidays, well-wishes for safety and success.
  • Be creative! Artwork, especially from kids, is always a plus!

Thank you for NOT:

  • Using glitter, confetti or other messy art supplies on your cards or letters.
  • Including candy, money or other items.

Thank you for supporting our troops this holiday season!
