(STATEHOUSE) Newly elected state Senator Mike Delph (R-Carmel) has been chosen to serve the remainder of former Sen. Murray Clark's term, which expires in 2006. Clark resigned his Senate seat November 14.
Delph is a former aide to Congressman Dan Burton and currently works for the Indiana Cable Telecommunications Association.
Senate President Pro Tempore Robert D. Garton (R-Columbus) appointed Delph to several Senate standing committees: Economic Development and Technology (Economic Development Subcommittee); Governmental Affairs and Interstate Cooperation (Governmental Affairs Subcommittee); Homeland Security, Utilities and Public Policy (Public Safety Subcommittee); and Insurance and Financial Institutions (Insurance Subcommittee).
“We welcome Mike to the Senate,” Garton said. “His prior experience working in and around government will prove beneficial to the citizens he represents.”
A ceremonial swearing-in will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
