FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(STATEHOUSE) This morning, the Indiana Senate adopted the Senate Rules for 2005-2006, which included changes to certain in-house procedures and standing committees.
The new standing committee structure (* denotes new or renamed committee): • Agriculture and Small Business • Appointments and Claims • Appropriations * • Commerce and Transportation * • Corrections, Criminal and Civil Matters * • Economic Development and Technology • Education and Career Development • Elections and Civic Affairs • Energy and Environmental Affairs * • Governmental Affairs and Interstate Cooperation • Health and Provider Services • Homeland Security, Utilities and Public Policy * • Insurance and Financial Institutions • Judiciary • Natural Resources • Pensions and Labor • Tax and Fiscal Policy *
Each committee will have 11 members, except the Appropriations Committee and the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, which will have 12 members each. The chairman of Appropriations will serve on the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, and the chairman of Tax and Fiscal Policy will serve as a member of the Appropriations Committee.
Members have not been assigned to these standing committees, thus no chairmanships have been appointed. The Senate will release this information when it becomes available.
