Since 1989, I've served our community as State Representative for District 51. I'm now pleased to serve Northeast Indiana in a new way—as State Senator.
On March 22, State Senator C. “Bud” Meeks passed away, leaving his seat vacant. Last week, I filed and subsequently won a bid to complete the remainder of his term. While I embrace this opportunity to represent even more constituents, I simultaneously mourn the loss of a great public servant and friend.
Bud believed in the greatness of Hoosiers and worked diligently to improve the lives of each and every citizen of this great state. His death strengthened my resolve to strive for the very best in both my personal and public life. I plan to use my new position to pursue a vigorous agenda designed to enrich the lives of Hoosiers, just as I did in the House.
A member of the County Line Church of God, I believe in the sanctity of marriage. I hope to continue my campaign as a Senator for the adoption of a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages.
As the owner of Reppert School of Auctioneering, I understand the plight of the small business owner. Subsequently, job creation and economic development also top my list of priorities.
My family understands the importance of community involvement. I participate in a variety of activities, including Advance America, Indiana Conservative Assembly, and the American Family Association of DeKalb County. My wife Kay and sons Matthew, John, Timothy and Daniel also share these commitments with me.
Over the years, Bud earned a reputation for his dedication to the citizens of Senate District 14 and the state of Indiana as a whole. I vow to follow in his footsteps to the very best of my ability. My door never closes, and all input is welcomed. It is an honor to serve in this capacity and help ensure Bud's legacy survives.
