Who? Indiana Senate Majority Caucus members are seeking experienced, energetic journalism, public relations and telecommunications undergraduate and graduate students to join our team as media, research, and technology interns at the Statehouse in Indianapolis for the spring semester.
What? Qualified candidates will have successful academic backgrounds with practical experience in a newsroom, agency, radio or television station setting. Positions will require strong organizational and writing skills in Associated Press style. Selected candidates will be teamed directly with press secretaries, policy analysts and technology specialists.
When? Internships begin with an orientation at the end of December and last the duration of the legislative session.
Where Interns should plan to live in Indianapolis or the Surrounding area during the legislative session, as the internship requires daytime and some evening duties at the Statehouse (A $700 bi-weekly stipend is provided to assist with living expenses).
Why? Interns will gain practical experience in helping prepare and distribute news releases, guest columns, letters to the editor, direct mail, e-newsletters, e-invitations, e-surveys, talking points, bill summaries, committee reports, issue research, Web updates, radio feeds, podcasts, ditital photos, video productions and social media posts.
