A passionate public servant, State Senator Glenn Howard is an active community leader known for his vigilant and vocal advocacy.
Elected to the State Senate in 1992, Howard previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council for 16 years.
In the Senate, Howard serves as the ranking Democrat on the Commerce Public Policy & Interstate Cooperation Committee and also serves on the Economic Development & Technology; Corrections, Criminal & Civic Matters; and Insurance & Financial Institutions standing committees. He is also a member of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus.
Howard is involved with a variety of community organizations including serving as chair of the Glenn Howard Junior Golf Outing for Youth and co-chair of the United Northwest Area Christmas Give Away. He is also an active member of the Indianapolis Urban League, Noble Center and Flanner House.
A graduate of Crispus Attucks High Schools, Howard attended Alabama State and the University of Indianapolis. He and his wife Florence have two adult children and one grandchild.
