The Space Utilization Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the Legislative Council. It consists of
four members of the Council so that each caucus of the General Assembly is represented on the
Subcommittee.
Members of the Subcommittee continue to serve until they resign from the Subcommittee, cease
to be a member of the Council, or are replaced by the chair of the Council.
The Subcommittee has the following powers and duties:
(1) To monitor and evaluate the space needs of the House, Senate, and Legislative
Services Agency.
(2) To monitor space plans and facilities development undertaken by the executive
branch.
(3) On its own initiative, or at the request of the Council, to examine any matter
pertaining to legislative space needs.
In 1998, the Legislative Council directed the Subcommittee to
study the space requirements of
the Appellate and Supreme Courts of Indiana.
