Judicial circuit
Sec. 1. Jackson County constitutes the fortieth judicial circuit.

Establishment of standard superior court
Sec. 2. (a) There is established a court of record to be known as
the Jackson superior court.
(b) The Jackson superior court is a standard superior court as
described in IC 33-29-1.
(c) Jackson County comprises the judicial district of the court.

Sec. 3. The Jackson superior court has two (2) judges.

Jackson superior court; transitional provisions
Sec. 3.5. (a) The Jackson superior court is not expanded to two (2)
judges until January 1, 2008.
(b) The governor shall appoint a person under IC 3-13-6-1(f) to
serve as the initial judge added to the Jackson superior court by
section 3 of this chapter before January 1, 2008.
(c) The term of the initial judge appointed under subsection (b)
begins January 1, 2008, and ends December 31, 2010.
(d) The initial election of the judge of the Jackson superior court
added by section 3 of this chapter is the general election on
November 2, 2010. The term of the initially elected judge begins
January 1, 2011.
(e) This section expires January 1, 2017.

Sec. 4. The Jackson superior court has the same jurisdiction as the
