TITLE 511 INDIANA STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

Notice of Intent to Adopt a Rule
LSA Document #13-410

Under IC 4-22-2-23, the Indiana State Board of Education intends to adopt a rule concerning the following:

OVERVIEW: Amends 511 IAC by providing for the assessment of school performance by comparing the academic performance and growth of the individual students in each school and each school corporation with the prior academic performance and growth of the individual students in the school or school corporation. Amends 511 IAC by establishing a number of categories, using an "A" through "F" grading scale, to designate performance based on the individual student academic performance and growth to proficiency in each school. Amends 511 IAC by providing that each school shall be placed in a category or designation of school performance based on the assessment of performance and growth. Amends 511 IAC by establishing new categories or designations of school performance "under the requirements of [IC 20-31-8] to replace 511 IAC 6.2-6." Statutory authority: IC 20-19-2-8; IC 20-31-8-5.

Resources available to regulated entities through the small business ombudsman include the ombudsman's duties stated in IC 5-28-17-5, specifically IC 5-28-17-5(9), investigating and attempting to resolve any matter regarding compliance by a small business with a law, rule, or policy administered by a state agency, either as a party to a proceeding or as a mediator.
