EXECUTIVE ORDER: 12-04

FOR: DECLARING A DISASTER EMERGENCY IN DECATUR, JASPER, MONROE, AND VIGO COUNTIES DUE TO SEVERE STORMS WITH DAMAGING WINDS, TORNADOS, AND FLOODING


TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS.

WHEREAS, IC 10-14-3-12 provides that the governor shall declare a disaster emergency by executive order if he determines that a disaster involving widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property has occurred or that the occurrence or threat of a disaster is imminent; and

WHEREAS, beginning on April 18, 2011, and continuing through June 6, 2011, severe storms with damaging straight line winds, tornados, and flooding caused widespread damage to homes, businesses, and public property in Decatur, Jasper, Monroe, Vigo counties;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr., by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby:

DECLARE that a state of disaster emergency exists in Decatur, Jasper, Monroe, and Vigo counties. This declaration of disaster emergency shall be effective beginning on November 1, 2011, and shall continue for thirty (30) days pursuant to IC 10-14-3-12; and

ORDER that this Executive Order declaring the existence of a state of disaster emergency is issued to enable the State to provide financial assistance from the State Disaster Relief Fund to eligible local units of government which have suffered damage to the entity's public facilities because of this disaster.
