Notice of Public Comment Period For Interim Rule

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is soliciting public comments on temporarily adding and suspending rules concerning the approval of truck driver training schools. The BMV seeks comments on the affected citations listed and any other provisions of Title 140 that may be affected by this rulemaking.
Basic Purpose and Background
Temporarily adds a rule and temporarily suspends
140 IAC 7-5-1 through
140 IAC 7-5-11 concerning the approval of truck driver training schools. The proposed rules bring
140 IAC into conformity with the implementation of the Entry-Level Driver Training under 49 CFR § 380, Subparts F and G, which went into effect on February 7, 2022.
Statement Concerning Requirement or Cost
The BMV has determined that the above referenced proposed rules, as amended, will impose no additional requirements or costs on small businesses.

Copies of the rule and the data, studies, or analyses referenced in the statement concerning requirements and costs are available at the office of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
SECTION 1. A business enterprise that educates, trains, or otherwise prepares a person to operate a commercial motor vehicle is approved by the bureau to operate in the state if the business enterprise is listed on the Training Provider Registry as described in 49 CFR Part 380.
SECTION 3. This document expires 425 days after filing with the Publisher.
