Governor's Approval
LSA Document #23-519
Under
IC 4-22-2-37.2, the Governor gives the Bureau of Motor Vehicles approval to publish an Interim Rule concerning the issuance of a driver's license, permit, or identification card, or registrations of certificates of title, to an individual granted parole to remain in the United States under 8 U.S.C. 1182(d)(5).
Letter of Governor's Approval dated June 15, 2023:
The Governor hereby finds, pursuant to Indiana Code § 4-22-2-37.2(b)(1), that the proposed interim rule is necessary to implement a new state law, specifically Indiana Code § 9-14-8-3.5 which went into effect upon the passage of HEA 1050, before a final rule can take effect. The new law took effect upon passage, the existing emergency rule expires on August 3, 2023, and a regular rule is not expected to be completed until on or about October 19, 2023.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles may proceed with the interim rule proposed in its submission.
