Notice of Changes to Alternative Benefits Plan Prescription Benefit

In accordance with public notice requirements established at 42 CFR §440.386, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) publishes this notice of proposed changes to the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Basic and Plus prescription drug benefit. The public notice period will run 11/16/2022 to 12/16/2022.

FSSA – OMPP proposes to revise the HIP Basic and Plus prescription benefits. The proposed effective date of these changes is January 1, 2023.

OMPP proposes to submit a state plan amendment to modify the prescription drug coverage under the existing HIP Basic Alternative Benefit Plan. The amendment would extend the prescription drug supply limit for HIP Basic members from thirty (30) days to ninety (90) days. The amendment will align prescription drug supply limits for HIP members in both ABPs as the HIP Plus Alternative Benefit Plan prescription drug supply limit is ninety (90) days. There are no changes to cost-sharing requirements, and beneficiaries in these plans will continue to be exempt from copayments for preventive care in accordance with 45 CFR §147.130. This change will neither conflict with full access to Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) services in accordance with §440.345 nor with compliance with the provisions of section 5006(e) of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
