Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on November 4, 2021, at 9:30 a.m., at the PNC Center, 101 West Washington Street, IURC Conference Center, Judicial Courtroom 224, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule (RM #20-03/LSA #21-213) to amend the IURC's administrative rules regarding minimum pipeline safety standards found at 170 IAC 5-3.

The proposed rules will affect natural gas utilities and, indirectly, customers of those gas utilities. The additional compliance costs for natural gas utilities imposed by the rule are justified by the increase in public safety attributable to the regulations. Many of the regulations are specifically intended to reduce the risk of a failure, like recent, high-profile, catastrophic events that occurred in other states. The regulations will improve the overall safety of natural gas pipelines in Indiana.
