NATURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION
RESOLUTION AND ORDER OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION
Whereas, the Indiana General Assembly, pursuant to Ind. Code § 14-9-4-1, established the Division of Reclamation and the Division of Oil and Gas.
Whereas, the Indiana General Assembly, pursuant to Ind. Code § 14-9-4-2(b), authorizes the Natural Resources Commission, with the approval of the Governor, to merge or consolidate divisions of the Department of Natural Resources.
Whereas, a common focus of the Division of Reclamation and the Division of Oil and Gas is on efficient and environmentally safe extraction of subsurface natural resources and the oversight and remediation of abandoned wells and mines.
Whereas, the consolidation of the Division of Reclamation and the Division of Oil and Gas will promote fiscal responsibility, consistency, and efficiency.
Now Therefore, the Natural Resources Commission resolves as follows:
(1) The Division of Reclamation and the Division of Oil and Gas shall be consolidated into one division; the Division of Reclamation.
(2) The Director of the consolidated Division of Reclamation shall be professionally and technically qualified to hold the position and shall abide by the duties set for in Ind. Code § 14-36-1-14 and Ind. Code § 14-37-3.
