Notice of Change in Reimbursement for Emergency Medical Treatment
When No Transportation Is Provided


In accordance with public notice requirements established at 42 CFR 447.205, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) publishes this notice of proposed changes to reimbursement to emergency transportation providers when medical services are provided but no transportation occurs. This public notice period will run from May 26, 2021, to June 25, 2021.

OMPP proposes to reimburse emergency transportation providers for appropriate and medically necessary medical care when an ambulance is dispatched, and treatment is provided to the member without the member being transported to another site. This change will be effective July 1, 2021.

OMPP is making this change in order to comply with Indiana's House Enrolled Act No. 1209 of 2020. It is estimated that the fiscal impact of this change will be an increase in state and federal expenditures of approximately $0.01 million for federal fiscal year 2021 (federal share of $0.01 million and state share of $0.00 million) and $0.05 million for federal fiscal year 2022 (federal share of $0.04 million and state share of $0.02 million).

A copy of this notice is now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W451 and is open for public inspection. Also, a copy of this notice is now available and may be inspected by contacting the local county Division of Family Resources office, except in Marion County, where public inspection may be made at 402 W. Washington Street, Room W374, Indianapolis, Indiana.
