Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on July 25, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 9, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Office of the Secretary of Family and Social Services – Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule amending the following sections: 405 IAC 5-27-1 to update definitions and terminology; 405 IAC 5-27-2 to clarify prior authorization and service limitations for radiologic procedures; 405 IAC 5-27-3 to update definitions and terminology and revise Medicaid policy for computerized tomography scans; and 405 IAC 5-27-6 to update terminology and revise Medicaid policy for sonography procedures. The proposed rule also proposes to add 405 IAC 5-27-7 to implement reimbursement and prior authorization policy for positron emission tomography (PET) scans; 405 IAC 5-27-8 to implement reimbursement and prior authorization policy for interventional radiology procedures; and 405 IAC 5-27-9 to implement reimbursement policy for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Effective 30 days after filing with the Publisher.
Pursuant to IC 4-22-2-24(d)(3), the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's (FSSA) – Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) proposes to amend 405 IAC 5-27 to add prior authorization language for MRIs and PET scans pursuant to a policy change. This rule amendment also revises Medicaid reimbursement policy for radiology services. This rule also adds language for sonography and tomography services to update terminology and revise procedures. These changes are being made to update administrative rules to reflect current state policy, align with clinical practice, and ensure definitions and terminology are correct.
All parties interested in the proposed rule are invited to attend the public hearing and to offer public comments. In lieu of attendance at the public hearing, written comments may be sent to: FSSA, Attention: Chelsea Princell c/o Gabrielle Koenig, 402 West Washington Street, Room W451, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Correspondence should be identified in the following manner: "COMMENT RE: LSA Document #18-375". All written comments concerning the rule received by the FSSA – OMPP will be available for public inspection at FSSA's Office of General Counsel, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W451, Indianapolis, Indiana.
