Building or Fire Safety Law Interpreted
675 IAC 14-4.3, the 2005 Indiana Residential Code, P2719.1 Minimum size. Floor drains shall have waste outlets not less than 2 inches (51 mm) in diameter and shall be provided with a removable strainer with an open area of at least two-thirds of the cross-sectional area of the drain line to which it connects.
Interpretation of the State Building Commissioner
The IRC section in question does not require the installation of a floor drain. It only provides minimum design requirements for such a fixture.
