TITLE 655 BOARD OF FIREFIGHTING PERSONNEL STANDARDS AND EDUCATION

Notice of Intent to Adopt an Emergency Rule
LSA Document #19-180

Under IC 4-22-2-37.1, the Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards and Education intends to adopt an emergency rule concerning the following:

OVERVIEW: Adds provisions and amends 655 IAC 1-2.1, concerning Training for Voluntary Certification Program, to include the most current edition of the following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards: 472, 1001, 1002, 1003, 1006, 1021, 1031, 1033, 1035, 1041, 1521, and 1670.

NFPA 472 will be updated from the 2008 edition to the 2018 edition.
NFPA 1001 will be updated from the 2008 edition to the 2019 edition.
NFPA 1002 will be updated from the 2009 edition to the 2017 edition.
NFPA 1003 will be updated from the 2005 edition to the 2019 edition.
NFPA 1006 will be updated from the 2008 edition to the 2017 edition.
NFPA 1021 will be updated from the 2009 edition to the 2014 edition.
NFPA 1031 will be updated from the 2009 edition to the 2014 edition.
NFPA 1033 will be updated from the 2009 edition to the 2014 edition.
NFPA 1035 will be updated from the 2000 edition to the 2015 edition.
NFPA 1041 will be updated from the 2007 edition to the 2019 edition.
NFPA 1521 will be updated from the 2008 edition to the 2015 edition.
NFPA 1670 will be updated from the 2009 edition to the 2017 edition.
These updates apply throughout 655 IAC 1-2.1. Statutory authority: IC 36-8-10.5-7(f).

Pursuant to IC 36-8-10.5-7(h)(2), a public hearing will be held on this proposed emergency rule at the Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards and Education's April 23, 2019, meeting, at 9:00 a.m., which will be held at the Professional Firefighters Union Hall Local 416, 748 Massachusetts Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204. A copy of the proposed emergency rule is available for public inspection at the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, 302 West Washington Street, E208, Indianapolis, IN 46204 and may be requested by contacting Michelle Allen with the below contact information.
