Notice of Public Hearing
Under
IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on November 13, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 14, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Indiana Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to amend
836 IAC 1-1-5 to require the collection and next day reporting of updated (NEMSIS Version 3) data elements by all EMS provider organizations.
The Indiana EMS Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under
IC 16-31-2-7. The proposed rule: (1) updates the list of data elements that all EMS provider organizations are required to submit to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security; and (2) changes the deadline for reporting the data elements from a monthly requirement to a daily requirement.
These amendments are necessary to: (1) improve the quality of Indiana's workforce by making available additional data, in real time, that can be researched to develop and implement improved responses, protocols, and practices for EMS providers; (2) advance and improve patient care; (3) enable policymakers to pinpoint and more quickly respond to outbreaks, epidemics, and other critical health issues; and (4) keep Indiana current with the national standard in EMS data collection, which will enable improved data sharing state to state.
Public comments are invited and may be directed to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Attn: Justin Guedel, Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Room E208, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204.
The proposed rule is available to be inspected and copied at the office of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security located at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Room E208, Indianapolis, Indiana.
