Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on September 20, 2017, at 8:30 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 1, Indianapolis, Indiana, the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to amend 864 IAC 1.1 to clarify an accredited degree, define education and work experience and update and clarify education definitions and requirements, add Indiana Administrative Code references, comply with additional Indiana Administrative Code references, update examination schedule, clarify examination attempts timeline, update the application of seal and signature requirement, clarify renewal requirements, update "roster" to "name and address change", clarify notification of change of address requirement, update disclosure of a conviction and crime requirement, update discipline language, reduce the fee for registration as a professional engineer by comity, and repeal 864 IAC 1.1-2-2 and 864 IAC 1.1-2-4.
The proposed rule imposes requirements or costs on regulated professional engineers for the purpose of providing enhanced and more flexible requirements to qualify to register and to practice as a professional engineer in the state of Indiana. The Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers relied upon engineering accreditation criteria published by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., and the engineering testing procedures and policy of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) to determine the imposition of requirements or costs.
Copies of the proposed rule and any data, studies, or analyses referenced in the justification statement for requirements or costs on the regulated entities are now on file at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection and copying.
