OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF FAMILY AND SOCIAL SERVICES

Public Notice Regarding Renewal of the Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver

In September 2017, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) and the Division of Aging (DA) intend to submit a proposed renewal to the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waiver and an updated version of the TBI waiver-specific Statewide Transition Plan (STP) to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for consideration.

The renewal of the TBI waiver will allow the DA to continue providing home and community-based services to individuals who, but for provisions of such services, would require institutional care. Through the use of the TBI waiver, OMPP and DA seek to continue offering cost-effective traumatic brain injury waiver services to people who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. The TBI waiver's goal is to ensure individuals with a traumatic brain injury receive appropriate services based on their needs and the needs of their families. The waiver-specific STP outlines milestones that DA has completed since the last submitted version of the Indiana Statewide Transition Plan.

The 30-day public comment period for the TBI renewal and the TBI waiver-specific STP will run August 16, 2017, through September 15, 2017. Comments may be emailed to dacomments@fssa.in.gov or mailed to the address below:
