Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on July 28, 2016, at 8:30 a.m., local time, at the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W064, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana will hold a public hearing to create 844 IAC 18 to establish application requirements, standards for professional responsibility, standards of practice, and continuing education requirements for licensed diabetes educators.
A license is not required to provide diabetes education. If an individual applies for licensure, the application fee is $50 and the renewal fee is $50. Additionally, the applicant must meet minimum education requirements. Once licensed, in order to renew, the licensee must complete continuing education requirements. Licensees must abide by the standards of practice and professional responsibility as set forth in the rule. These requirements are needed to ensure a minimum standard of practice, skill, and conduct among licensed diabetes educators, to maintain their skills, and to ensure safe, quality care is provided.
Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W072 and Legislative Services Agency, Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Room N201, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
