FOR: PARDON FOR HANS SCHMITTER
TO ALL WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY COME, GREETINGS.
WHEREAS, Hans Schmitter, who petitioned for pardon was convicted in 1992 in White County of theft, residential entry and receiving stolen property, all Class D felonies, and was sentenced to 9 years with 5 suspended; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner has successfully served 2 years of his sentence and was paroled; and
WHEREAS, the petitioner is now 41 years old, has no criminal record but for these convictions, and has since earned two associate degrees, a bachelor's degree and holds an Indiana Certified Appraisers License and an Indiana Real Estate Principal's License; and
WHEREAS, petitioner committed the offense when he was 18 years old, some 23 years ago; and
WHEREAS, the victims recommend a pardon be granted to petitioner; and
WHEREAS, the Indiana Parole Board, after careful investigation, review and examination of the facts with respect to petitioner in this matter has unanimously recommended that the Governor pardon petitioner.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael R. Pence, Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Indiana Constitution and the laws of the State, do hereby issue a Pardon to HANS SCHMITTER, and it is so ordered.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Michael R. Pence, have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Indiana on this 9th day of January, 2015.
