Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on May 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Rooms 1 and 2, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to add 675 IAC 22-2.5 to adopt the 2012 International Fire Code, first printing, with Indiana amendments to create the 2014 Indiana Fire Code and repeal 675 IAC 22-2.4 (2008 Indiana Fire Code).

The Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under IC 22-13-2. The proposed rule allows the use of new methods, materials, and technologies for the construction of rooftop gardens on Class 1 structures, the use of new testing procedures for interior finishes, and the reduction of regulation concerning the storage and dispensing of flammable and combustible liquids, as well as incorporating an updated edition of the International Fire Code. The proposed rule will result in cost savings to the regulated community and allow the use of the new materials, methods, technologies, and testing procedures without having to obtain a variance from the Commission on a per project basis.
