Notice of Public Hearing
Under
IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on May 22, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street, Conference Center Rooms 1 and 2, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed rule to add
675 IAC 18-1.6 to adopt the 2012 International Mechanical Code, first printing, with Indiana amendments to create the 2014 Indiana Mechanical Code and repeal
675 IAC 18-1.5 (2008 Indiana Mechanical Code).
The Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission has the authority to adopt this rule under
IC 22-13-2. The proposed rule allows the use of new methods, materials, and technologies for the installation, alteration, and addition of mechanical systems Class 1 structures, and the reduction of regulation concerning the use of kitchen hood suppression systems and mechanical venting system requirements, as well as incorporating an updated edition of the International Mechanical Code. The proposed rule will result in cost savings to the regulated community and allow the use of new materials, methods, and technologies without having to obtain a variance from the Commission for the use of the new materials, methods, and technologies on a per project basis.
